Concrete Infrastructure Research Group (CIRG)

Portrait of Callum

Callum White has recently joined the CIRG as an MRes+PhD student, supported by Costain. Callum is part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Infrastructure and Built Environment (FIBE2 CDT). His research focuses on immediate cement reduction, improving data and information flow within the context of the concrete supply chain and developing frameworks for best use of the material. Prior to coming to Cambridge, Callum worked as a structural engineer within an international consultancy practice and was involved in large scale projects around the UK.

On his appointment Callum said: “I am delighted to join the CIRG, it represents a fantastic opportunity to work towards the more sustainable use of concrete. Combining my passion for the built environment and climate change with the passion and expertise within the CIRG and Costain means sustainable change can be implemented within the industry.”

The Concrete Infrastructure Research Group develops sustainable infrastructure, through an improved understanding of existing infrastructure assets, the use of new materials, and the creation of innovative structural solutions.
