Concrete Infrastructure Research Group (CIRG)

Representatives from across the Costain business visited the CIRG at the University of Cambridge in May to discuss and align interests. The day was also an opportunity to develop the relationship that Costain and the CIRG have had over recent years. Dr Jenny Burridge of the Concrete Centre opened proceedings with an introductory talk “How can we get to net-zero concrete”. A further three sessions spanning the CIRG research portfolio were hosted, including the Sustainable Digital Concrete project which is sponsored by Costain. The day included a tour of the Civil Engineering building laboratories and discussions centred around testing, concrete performance and structural design. The day was rounded off with a dinner for participants at Murray Edwards College.
